Crete 13: Eleutherna

 

Eleutherna was a city at least as far back as the Greek Dark Ages, which is the period of collapse after the Mycenean era, about 3,000 years ago.  These pictures are from the Museum of Ancient Eleutherna. 












The shield is decorative, meaning it was never intended for battle.  The shiny version is a modern reproduction.
