Egypt 8: The Valley of the Kings
For about 500 years, starting around 1500 BCE, Egyptians kings and nobles were buried in the Valley of the Kings, a desolate region on the west bank of the Nile, opposite Thebes (modern Luxor). There are more than fifty discovered tombs, most famously that of Tutankhaman.
