Egypt 7: Ramesseum
The Ramesseum is the mortuary temple of Ramesses II, one of Egypt's most successful pharoahs.
Mudbrick storehouses. Fanciful interpretation says this is where the pharoah stored the grain at the advice of Joseph about seven bad years coming.
I couldn't get a good photo of the toppled statue of Ramesses II, famous because it inspired Shelley's great poem "Ozymandias." While we were there a member of our group who had never heard the poem found it on his phone and read it out loud. Great moment!
